Beachfront Stay in Nessebar – Great Hotel, Disappointing Restaurant

As summer faded away and September approached, I embarked on my second journey from Romania to Bulgaria, aiming to soak up the last traces of sunlight before donning warmer attire. The chosen destination was Nessebar, a charming town with its Old Town surrounded by water, adorned with cobblestone streets and quaint alleys.

Accommodation Selection

For this trip, I opted for a hotel strategically located on the beach, in close proximity to the Old Town, equipped with private parking. The quest was simple – a room with a sea view. With a leisurely 10-15 minute walk to the Old Town, I found it unnecessary to move my car for such a short distance.

Perfect Room Experience

Nestled on the first floor, my room exceeded expectations—spacious, clean, and featuring a delightful balcony just 15 meters from the beach and 30-40 meters from the sea. The balcony, a photographer’s haven, allowed me to capture stunning sunrises as I sipped on morning coffee, set up my tripod, and listened to the soothing waves. Evenings were equally magical, unwinding with a glass of beer or soda, the only sounds being the waves crashing on the shore.

Exceptional Staff and Facilities

The hotel staff deserves commendation for their excellent service. Our queries were promptly addressed, and we felt well-treated throughout our stay. Additionally, the availability of parking facilities added to the overall positive experience.

Looks good, tastes awful

A Minor Setback: The Restaurant Experience

While the hotel earned accolades, the same cannot be said for the restaurant. We dined only once and left disappointed. The order, taken by one staff member, resulted in a disjointed dining experience as various dishes arrived haphazardly. A requested fish soup materialized as chicken soup. The overall taste was lackluster, and attempts at redeeming the experience with a glass of sangria ended in regret.

A not so delicious meal

Payment Predicament

The ordeal reached its peak when we discovered a missing dish from our order. Despite expressing our desire to settle the bill and leave, we were informed that the restaurant couldn’t process card payments due to our failure to specify our payment method earlier. A bitter end to an otherwise delightful stay.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the hotel stands as a great choice, but the same cannot be said for the restaurant. Despite the setback, the overall experience in Nessebar was memorable, thanks to the picturesque surroundings and the exceptional hotel accommodation.

2025 update

Waiting for a bigger trip and wanting to save some money brought us back to Nessebar in 2025 where we were accommodated at this lovely hotel. The experience was just as nice but we had a small surprise.
We had breakfast included in the price and I must admit things were looking great and tasted very good. For this case I even modified my original title of the review because I don’t find the food here disappointing anymore. Hopefully this trend will continue because the hotel is too nice to be faulted because of the restaurant.
