Europe Hotel & Casino Sunny Beach – A Disappointing Stay

Europe Hotel & Casino Sunny Beach – A Disappointing Stay

Embarking on our first holiday since September 2020, our excitement was palpable. However, despite careful planning, our stay at Europe Hotel & Casino in Sunny Beach, Bulgaria, did not meet our expectations.

Background

Considering the uncertainties surrounding Covid and the red-listing of Spain and Portugal, we opted for a closer destination—Bulgaria. Despite having visited various locations in the country in the past, our experience in Sunny Beach raised some concerns.

Booking Experience

After thorough online research, we chose Europe Hotel & Casino, booking a sea view room for 8 nights. Unfortunately, upon arrival, the room did not match the description. Despite requesting a change, we were told the hotel was fully booked, which later proved to be false when checking other booking platforms.

Management Communication

Attempts to speak with the manager were unsuccessful, as we received conflicting information about their availability. Messages sent through the booking app remained unanswered until Wednesday evening, when the hotel acknowledged the incorrect room view but offered no real solution.

Accommodation Issues

Aside from the view, the room had several issues, including an uncomfortable bed setup and minor maintenance problems. While the hotel tried to fix some of them, the overall experience remained disappointing.

Gestures and Acknowledgment

In an attempt to compensate, the hotel offered a bottle of champagne, glasses, and fruit. While appreciated, the delayed response reduced the impact of this gesture. Better and earlier communication would have made a difference.

Restaurant Experience

The only real positive aspect of our stay was the hotel’s restaurant. The staff was extremely friendly, and the buffet, priced at around 16 leva per person, offered enjoyable meals.

Minor Issues

In addition to the major concerns, we also noticed smaller inconveniences, such as the lack of a coffee maker in the room, no beach hangers, and minor leaks in both the toilet and the shower.

Conclusion

Unfortunately, our first holiday of the year—and possibly the last due to rising Covid cases—ended on a disappointing note at Europe Hotel & Casino in Sunny Beach. While issues can happen during travel, this experience stood out in a negative way.

Rating

Considering everything, the hotel receives a two-star rating, mainly thanks to the restaurant.

Closing Thoughts

If you are considering Europe Hotel & Casino in Sunny Beach, make sure to do thorough research and communicate clearly with the hotel before booking. Travel experiences can vary, and this review reflects our honest stay.
