In the challenging times of the global pandemic, I felt compelled to share an experience from a unique restaurant in Bulgaria—Corona. While the name may resonate with current world events, I assure you this review is about a culinary gem in Balchik that deserves your attention.
Location
Nestled next to Balchik Castle and the Botanical Garden, Corona Restaurant offers a great seaside dining experience. Its proximity to the beach and picturesque surroundings make it an ideal spot to unwind after a day of sun-soaked relaxation or capturing moments through the lens. A parking area approximately 200 meters away allows for a pleasant walk along the promenade to reach this great restaurant.
Staff Impressions
The staff at Corona Restaurant is not only welcoming but also professional. Being Romanian myself, and considering the close ties between Romania and Balchik, exchanging a few words in Romanian with the staff added a personal touch to the overall dining experience.
Culinary Delights
My review is based on four memorable dinners at Corona, each contributing to a very enjoyable culinary journey.
First Evening:2 Fish soups, 1 Dorada fillet and polenta, 1 Portion of mussels and French fries, 1 Beer, 1 Cuba Libre
Total Cost: 60 leva (Approx. 30-31 euro)
Second Evening: Chicken and shrimp roulade, French fries, French fries and cheese, Bread, Fish eggs, Dorada, 1 Draft beer, 1 Aperol
Total Cost: 80 leva (Approx. 40-41 euro)
Third Evening: Plate of seafood, Greek salad, Greek zucchini, Sicilian mussels, French fries, Large draft beer, 1 Mojito, Biscuit cake, Nugat cake, Bread
Total Cost: 73 leva (Approx. 37 euro)
Fourth Evening: Pork bonfile, Dorada, Sicilian mussels, French fries, 1 Cuba Libre, 1 Large water
Total Cost: 60 leva

Corona Restaurant stands out not only for its reasonable prices but also for its generous portions and excellent taste. 2023 update
We found ourselves in Bulgaria again for a weekend and wanted to eat here, but something had changed. While the food was still decent, it lacked what we enjoyed so much during our previous trips. It could have been just a bad weekend, or maybe the quality has gone slightly downhill, but in any case I would rate this place a bit lower than during our initial visit.
