08 Jul UK at a glance
Today I’m starting a new series dedicated to my travels throughout the United Kingdom.
I first visited London in 1996 and 1997 staying for two weeks each time.
As the years passed I wanted to return to London to see how the city has transformed in 20 years after my visit. So that’s how on November 2016 I returned to London for a new visit. And this year in June, just two weeks again I visited London again.
Apart from London I took some time in 2016 and visited a good friend in Birmingham and from there I rented a car and spent a week visiting Coventry, Stratford upon Avon, Shrewsbury and Warwick.
I dedicated some time of my holiday to the Cotswolds where I visited Castle Combe, Chipping Camden, Moreton in Marsh, Stow on the Wold, Bibury, Lacock and The Slaughters.
And to make my trip more special I drove for a full day visiting Stonehenge, Avebury, Cherhill White Horse and Silbury Hill.
As usual I will review my accommodation (London, Coventry), restaurants where I ate, pubs, I will detail my itinerary driving and even write some posts about the places I saw.
Some posts will be lengthy, some will be short and some will be detailing a few places that I wanted to visit ever since I was a child.
If time allows it I will also write about my experiences at Ministry of Sound when John Digweed mixed for the release of Bedrock’s latest album and the Prophets of Rage concert at O2 Brixton where I had the chance to see some members of the bands I loved and listened to in the last 20 years.
I will touch on key points of my first experience driving with a steering wheel on the right for the first time for more than 800 kilometers using as usual a car from Hertz.
I hope you will enjoy this series as much as I did visiting some really special parts of the United Kingdom.
First article on the series will be about my accommodation in Coventry so…enjoy reading.
