22 Dec Weymouth Beach B&B – A Simple Stay by the Sea in Dorset
It has been a productive weekend.
Not for traveling, but for writing.
Since I got a bit sick I decided to skip watching TV series and instead focus on my blog.
So many things happened during my recent trips. New adventures, new photos, great meals, great memories. Unfortunately, because of work I had less time lately to sit down and do something I truly enjoy.
Writing.
People often ask me questions like:
“How many readers do you have?”
“How many comments do you get?”
“Don’t you want more traffic?”
“Why keep writing if you don’t measure how many people are reading?”
The answer is simple.
I never started this blog with the goal of becoming hugely popular. I never dreamed of fame or fortune because of it.
Dreaming is nice, but it also helps to stay realistic.
There are millions of travel blogs out there. Some are good, some are bad. Some have amazing photos, others not so much.
And honestly, none of that matters to me.
I started this blog mainly for myself.
At the time I was going through a difficult period personally and professionally, and I also had several health problems. I could not exercise for more than a year and I was constantly upset and frustrated.
Writing helped me a lot.
Because I could not return to weight training for quite some time, writing became my personal moment of relaxation. A moment where I could reflect on my experiences, my travels and my thoughts.
If you read some of my articles you probably noticed that I do not always write strictly about travel. I also write about people, moments and events that influence me.
My New York series is a great example of that. Alongside the practical travel information, it also contains a strong personal element.
Thinking About Summer and England
While I spent several days resting in bed listening to rain and snow outside, I started thinking more and more about summer.
And even though I recently wrote a couple of articles about Morocco, one destination kept returning to my mind.
England.
I know what you might be thinking.
England and summer?
But hear me out.
Yes, I visited England in September and October. But surprisingly, many days during that trip were warm enough for a simple T-shirt, and I even came back home slightly tanned.
I spent time on several beaches in Cornwall and Dorset, and although I visited multiple beautiful coastal places, one memory stood out.
Weymouth.
In my article about driving to Weymouth I mentioned that the town itself was pleasant but not particularly spectacular.
Today I want to talk about something else though.
My accommodation.
Weymouth Beach B&B – Location and First Impressions
When planning my trip through England I had a few specific criteria when choosing accommodations.
I wanted to stay in: guesthouses, beach houses, small hotels, unique places.
I tried to avoid large chain hotels whenever possible.
For my stay in Weymouth I focused on two main things: proximity to the beach and distance from the town center.
Weymouth Beach B&B checked both boxes perfectly.
The location is fantastic.
It is located only about 50 meters from the beach. You simply cross the road and you are already on the sand.
At the same time, the center of Weymouth is only about 500 meters away, so everything is within easy walking distance.
There is also parking available on the street behind the building.
The hosts can explain the parking system better than I can, but one important thing to remember in the UK is the “Pay and Display” system. Always make sure to place your ticket visibly in the car window.
A small note here: during my trip I found the Booking.com messaging system extremely helpful. It allowed me to quickly contact hosts whenever I had questions about parking, check-in times or directions.
Staff and Service
The staff were excellent.
Friendly, welcoming and always ready to help.
They offered useful information about parking, breakfast, places to eat and things to see around town.
Overall the service made the stay very pleasant.
Breakfast at Weymouth Beach B&B
Breakfast was good.
Not quite as impressive as the one I had in St Ives, but still a solid and satisfying way to start the day.

During my trip through the UK I ended up eating quite a few traditional English breakfasts.
At first it was simply curiosity. I wanted to see which hotels served the best version of this classic meal.
But surprisingly, I started enjoying it.
Would I eat it every day in Bucharest?
Probably not.
But once or twice a month? Absolutely.
The Room
My room was a single room, so it was not very large.
However it was clean, comfortable and well maintained.
The bed was made the next day and fresh towels were provided.

The bathroom was also clean and decent in size.

One of the best things about the room was the view towards the sea.
Even though there was a road between the building and the beach, the sight of the water was calming and I truly enjoyed it.
Do not expect luxury here.
My accommodation in St Ives was definitely more stylish, but it was also significantly more expensive.
Weymouth Beach B&B is simply a clean, comfortable and honest place to stay.
Falling Asleep to the Sound of the Sea
You might wonder why this place made me think of summer.
Weymouth is actually very quiet at night.
By around 9 or 10 PM the traffic almost disappears.
Both nights I stayed there I opened the window and slept with it open.
The lights off.
The quiet room.
And the sound of the waves slowly crashing onto the beach.
Lying in bed, listening to the sea and breathing the salty air while slowly falling asleep.
That moment reminded me exactly of summer days.
