27 Jul Piccolo Hotel – Splendid family run hotel in Moneglia
Italy. Sometimes I think that words cannot fully express how much I love this country. Out of the places I really, really loved in Italy, Cinque Terre holds a special place in my heart.
During my 4 days spent in Cinque Terre I had the pleasure of staying in one of the best hotels I was ever accommodated in, Piccolo Hotel.
Below you can find my review based on the lovely days I spent in this place.
Before proceeding to the review I will mention the fact that breakfast was included each day (with quite a large offer from where you could have chosen what to eat) and there was free WI FI in each room.
Access and proximity
Piccolo Hotel is situated in Moneglia and while this isn’t exactly Cinque Terre it is still a great location. 30 minutes by train and you’ll reach Monterosso al Mare, the first of the five Cinque Terre villages.
As we are on the subject of trains, the train station is about 600 meters away from the hotel and trains run in the direction of Cinque Terre very often (20-30 minutes times between them).
The hotel is right across the Moneglia beach so by just crossing the street and walking for 15-20 meters you can get a nice tan or enjoy the water.
That’s what I did each morning before leaving to explore Cinque Terre, a small swim and an hour of sunbathing before taking the train to explore these beautiful little villages.
There are a lot of places to eat near the Hotel, very close is the famous Pizzeria Cioco where I had the best pizza in Italy so far.
Staff
This is one area in which the Hotel shines. I really loved the staff here, their care for tourists and their desire to help.
Very polite and helpful they managed to make my accommodation at the hotel extremely pleasant.
The big bonus at this Hotel is the fact that it is a family business passed between generations so you can never know if one of the people helping you is a member of the family or not.
Rooms & cleanliness
Rooms are very spacious and clean. Room service is excellent and also a big plus for the bathroom.
The room faced a back street so it was very quiet but please take in consideration the fact that Moneglia is a very small town so the Hotel’s rooms regardless of their position are quiet.
Verdict
Cinque Terre is one place I will return for sure one day. And without a doubt the first place I will search for accommodation will be Piccolo Hotel.
